Further challenges today with the Hauraki rail trail to Te Aroha. It was like an obstacle course with many narrow aperture bridges and cattle grids, sometimes in quick succession. This is all fine if you don't have panniers! And of course the lovely loose gravel surface continued. At least the wind was behind us and the route today flat all the way. The last 24 miles was on smooth, straight, empty roads - luxury. We are now in Middle Earth, Matamata. Weather about to deteriorate so where better to be holed up? Off to The Shire tomorrow.
