Rainy dull day. There was mutiny today on the Waikato River Trail! This MOUNTAIN bike trail may be "grade 1 easy, flat" etc but I don't consider hairpin bends on steep ascents and descents on loose gravel, crossing narrow swing bridges and slippery board walks suitable terrain for hybrids with slick tyres and panniers! So we enjoyed the thundering lorries instead. So we are now in Taupo, having McDonalds for the privilege of free wifi! 38 miles, 2611 ft ascent.
