Then disaster - a spoke broke! The resident bike mechanic deems it unsuitable for the bike to continue to support the excessive load put on its saddle! So, very disappointingly, we now have to bus it to Wanaka to get it fixed. How frustrating - this next step is supposed to be the most beautiful stretch of road ever and it's going to be sunny and we'll have to see it from the inside of a bus!
